From August 16 to 18, 2013, the “International Symposium on Extenics and Innovation Methods” and the “30th Anniversary of the Foundation of Extenics” were held in Xi Jiao Hotel, Beijing, China. More than 120 Extenics researchers from China, America, Britain, Japan, Germany, Romania, India and Australia attended the symposium.
At the opening ceremony, Li Youping, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, read the inscription of Wu Wenjun, the winner of top science and technology award and academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and congratulated on the successful holding of the symposium. Researcher Cai Wen, the founder of Extenics and Chinese national outstanding contribution expert, made an opening speech; Professor Takeshi Yamakawa, Japanese fuzzy mathematics expert, expressed congratulations on the holding of the symposium; professor Hao Zhifeng, the vice-chancellor of Guangdong University of Technology, made a passionate speech on the holding of the symposium representing Guangdong University of Technology; professor Gu Jifa, the former chairman of the International Council of Systems Engineering, and professor Wang Peizhuang who supported this research from the inoculation stage of Extenics made a special trip to attend the symposium and expressed congratulations.
Chinese professor Yang Chunyan, American professor Florentin Smarandache, Romanian professor Luige Vladareanu, Indian professor Ramesh Choudhary and Chinese professor Zhao Yanwei made research report on extension theory, extension innovation method and extension engineering respectively. German professor T.H.J. Vaneker, the chairman of European Triz Society, introduced the innovation research work of ETRIA meetings at the meeting over the decade.
The symposium witnessed very active paper presentation and heated discussion, whose contents involved the researches of extension theory and application, promotion of extension innovation method and the research of other innovative methods. Quite a few young scholars participated in academic exchanges at the symposium. Young scholars are becoming the main force of the studies of Extenics.
For 30 years, Extenics theoretical research is going deeper and deeper. Researcher Cai Wen summarized the theoretical results, discussed the scientific significance and future development direction of Extenics in the keynote speech “Extenics and its scientific significance and future development”.
Researchers from four continents gathered together to attend the symposium and exchanged their Extenics theoretical research and application results and experiences. Rigorous meeting style, orderly procedures and enthusiastic academic exchange and discussion reflected “extensive, rigorous, modest and honest” style of study of Extenics.
During the symposium, researchers also focused on the issues of arrangement for Extenics international symposium, international journal and research institute, and decided that the 2nd International Symposium on Extenics and Innovation Methods will be held in 2015. The success of this symposium will have a positive effect on the promotion of intensive study and application of Extenics and take a solid step towards Extenics’ further maturity and into the world temple of science!
During the symposium, the Extension Engineering Specialized Committee, Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, held the 13th work meeting of the Specialized Committee, made organization adjustment of the Specialized Committee, and decided that researcher Yang Chunyan will act as the director, researcher Cai Wen as the honorary director and professor Chen Wenwei as the vice honorary director of the Specialized Committee, while professor Liu Wei acts as the director of the Academic Committee to discuss the future work of the Specialized Committee.
