Extenics is an interdisciplinary branch across mathematics, engineering and philosophy. It is dedicated to exploring the theory and methods of solving contradictory problems intelligently. It can be applied to computer, design, management, control, detecting and other fields. In 1983, Professor Cai Wen published the paper "The Extension Set and Non-compatible Problems" in Science Exploration, which marked the establishment of Extenics.

In the past 20 years, the Extenics research team extended from one person to a great number of Chinese and foreign researchers. They established a theoretical system called Extension Theory, formed the specific extension innovational methods, carried out the applied research in information, machinery, management and other fields, and developed test software of extension strategy generation system utilizing technology, extension data mining method etc., which formed today’s extension engineering. Extension theory, extension methods and extension engineering constituted a new discipline called Extenics. Strictly speaking, Extenics is a scientific discipline using formalization model to study the possibility of extension and the regulation of extension innovation and to solve contradictory problems. Since 1993, 18 groups of research scholars were recruited from all over China to study Extenics in Guangzhou. Now they are the main Extenics researchers. In recent years, the scholars from the U.S., Japan, Venezuela and other countries began to research the Extenics.

In order to let more overseas scholars participate in the research work of Extenics, use it in various fields, and become Extenics disseminator and researchers in their countries, Professor Cai Wen is recruiting foreign scholars and international students online. The scholars majored in mathematics, computer and data mining, artificial intelligence, design and other fields are welcome to apply. On May 19 of this year, as the first group of international scholars in extension theory and its application, Prof. Florentin Smarandache of University of New Mexico, , has come to China to start a research and cooperation program for three months with the Research Institute of Extension Engineering and Innovational Methods, Guangdong University of Technology.On September 2012, ProfessorLuige Vladareanu fromRomania Academy has come to do joint research on Extenics in our institute as the second group of the international Extenics research scholars. From the third group, apart from these professors, we also hope recruit a group of young scholars to participate in Extenics study.

We warmly welcome you and your colleges to come to do joint research and discuss future issues of Extenics in Guangzhou.Now, we are recruiting thethird group of international Extenics research scholars. Everyone interested in it is welcome.

The details ofLearning Contentare as follows:

1. To introduce the basic ideas, theories and methods of extension set online;

2. To guide the research methods and to carry out a research project;

3. To participate in the existing Extenics project research or extension software development.

Requirements:

1. To become Extenics advocate and organizer in one’s county; to be a member of the Preparatory Committee of "International Extenics Association", which will be set up in 2013; to participate in the Preparatory Committee of “The first International Symposium of Extenics and the 30th anniversary Celebration of Extenics (Extenics 2013)” which will be held in China in 2013.

2. Professor Cai Wen and other scholars of Extenics will guide students in learning extension theory and participating in its application. One will be required to publish a thesis or achieve a result at the end of the collaborative research.

3. To be a member of the Preparatory Committee of “International Journal of Extenics”.

4. To be a researcher of extension theory or leader of the application of extension theory in your country.

Qualifications:

1. Scholars with title of lecturer, associate professor or Ph. D;

2. Have a good command of certain organizational and interpersonal skills.

Learning period:

1. Three months of learning and doing some research about Extenics;

2. One month of learning core curriculum about Extenics. After that, you can choose staying in Guangzhou or going back to your country to continue doing research about Extenics;

3. You could choose the most suitable one of them. Of course, if you have any other ideas, we also welcome you contact with us, and we can consult a more convenient time for each other.

1. Funding the travel and logging in the university's hotel.
