“The Seminar of 2012 Extension  Software Research and Development” organized by Extension Engineering Specialized  Committee of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and Research  Institute of Extenics and Innovation Methods, Guangdong University of  Technology, was held in Guangdong University of Technology from August 2 to 7,  2012. Participants included professors, engineers, general managers and  postgraduates of Guangdong University of Technology, National University of  Defense Technology, Ningbo Institute of Technology, Zhejiang University, New  Mexico State University of U.S., and Shenzhen Soultao Network Co., Ltd.

The meeting summarized the situation  of research and development of extension software since the year of 2006,  discussed technical problems in the research and development process,  communicated successful cases and technologies, proposed the future development  direction and laid a good foundation for cooperative research and development  of extension software in future.

The seminar was presided over  by Professor Li Xingsen of Extension Engineering Specialized Committee of  Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence. Prof. Cai Wen made four theme  speeches including “Extenics Overview”, “Extension Innovation Method”,  “Extenics and Artificial Intelligence” and “Extension Data Mining”. Professor  Chen Wenwei, director of Academic Committee of Extension Engineering Specialized  Committee of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence made a report of  “Status and Prospect of Extension Software Research and Development” and  summarized the work status of software research and development and  achievements since the year of 2006 as well as future research direction.

In the meeting, Chinese and  American scholars respectively introduced representative software which they  researched and developed. For example, Professor Li Weihua, Guangdong  University of Technology, demonstrated “DIY Tour Extension Strategy Generation  System”; Doctor Li Xiaomei, Guangdong University of Technology, demonstrated  “Extension Data Mining Software Which Promotes Product Sales”; Professor Li  Xingsen of Ningbo Institute of Technology, Zhejiang University, introduced “Man-Machine  Interactive Extension Strategy Auxiliary Generation System”; General Manager Su  Zhenqing of Shenzhen Soultao Network Technology Co., Ltd introduced “Extension  Innovation Method Training System” researched by the company; Mr. Mihai, an American  engineer of network, introduced his “Network Business Communication and Bidding  System” and proposed suggestions on improving English website of extenics.

The meeting conducted a heated  discussion of the technical problems in the research and development process of  extension software. Chinese and American scholars communicated their own  opinions and understanding and had their own technical level and innovation  ability enhanced. The meeting put forward active suggestions on the research  and development direction and process of extension software in future, and made  heated discussions of future cooperation.

The meeting held that it was  the development trend of science and technology to solve contradictory problems  intelligently, and Extenics’ softwares were important tools for realizing the  ideal. Currently, we have taken the first step. Next one, we need to keep  working hard to reach the goal that Extenics can improve and promote the whole social  and economic development.
