During October  17th—19th, 2008, the 12th National Annual  Conference of Extenics was held at Graduate University of the Chinese Academy  of Sciences in Beijing. There are more than 60 experts and  scholars from different places of China attending this annual conference.

The  opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Liu Wei, the vice-director of  Extension Engineering Specialized Committee, Chinese Association of Artificial  Intelligence and doctoral supervisor of  Dalian Maritime University. The opening address was delivered by Professor Cai  Wen, the prominent contributed expert of China and the director of Extension  Engineering Specialized Committee, Chinese Association of Artificial  Intelligence. On behalf of Mr. Cheng Siwei, welcome speech was  addressed by Professor Shi Yong, Vice-Dean of  College of Management at Graduate University of the Chinese Academy of  Sciences, adviser of Extension Engineering Specialized Committee, Chinese  Association of Artificial Intelligence, executive vice dean of Virtual  Economics and Information Scientific Research Center. On behalf of the 11th  Extension Engineering Specialized Committee, the work lecture was given by Yang  Chunyan, Professor of Guangdong University of Technology, the vice-director of  Extension Engineering Specialized Committee, Chinese Association of Artificial  Intelligence. Professor Tu Xuyan from Beijing Science  and Technology University, the honor director of Chinese Association  of Artificial Intelligence and adviser of Extension Engineering Specialized  Committee, and Professor Gu Jifa, the director of Chinese Association of System  Engineering and the Chairman of International System Research Union, addressed  respectively. They showed great expectations to the development of Extenics.

During  the Conference session, Research Professor Cai Wen gave the special lecture of  “Extenics Research Prospects”. There were eight plenary lectures at the annual  conference offering the extension software demonstration and discussion seminar  for the first time.

This annual conference aroused great echo in the  teachers and students of Graduate University of the Chinese Academy of  Sciences. It also drew the enormous media attentions, including. Guangming Daily, Science Times, Computer  World, Popular Science News, and Software World and so on. Science Times  published a front-page report “Use Extension Methods to develop Extenics”. The  complete success of this annual conference will actively promote the  development of Extenics.
