Research Institute of Extenics and Innovation Methods of Guangdong University of Technology is a professional research institute specializing in the study on Extenics and innovation methods. It’s formerly known as Matter Element Analysis Laboratory of Guangdong College of Engineering which was founded in September, 1986. It was changed into Matter Element Analysis Research Center of Guangdong University of Technology in September, 1996. It was renamed as Extension Engineering Research Institute of Guangdong University of Technology in September, 1999. It was again renamed as Research Institute of Extenics and Innovation Methods, Guangdong University of Technology in May, 2012. Employees of the institute include full-time, part-time and contracted personnel with a total number of 45, among which 23 are professors, 13 are associate professors and 9 are lecturers (doctors). At present, Professor Cai Wen, founder of Extenics, is appointed as the honorary director. Professor Yang Chunyan of Guangdong University of Technology is the honorary director. Professor Li Xingsen of Guangdong University of Technology is the director. Professor Tian Yingjie of University of Chinese Academy of Science, Professor Yang Guowei of Nanjing Audit University and Professor Shan Wei of Beihang University serve as part-time deputy directors.
The research institute consists of 4 research centers. They are respectively Extension Theory Research Center, Extension Innovation Method Research Center, Extension Engineering Research Center, Extenics Academic Exchange Center. Professor Li Qiaoxing (Guizhou University) is the director of Extension Theory Research Center. Professor Qin Jianjun (Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture) is the director of Extension Innovation Method Research Center. Professor Zhao Yanwei (Zhejiang University of Technology) is the director of Extension Engineering Research Center. Professor Zhang Lingling (University of Chinese Academy of Science) is the director of Extenics Academic Exchange Center.
